Off the clock · Name numerology

What your name has been saying all along

I've been reading names for years, mostly for friends around a kitchen table. A name is the first gift anyone gives us, and I love sitting with someone and showing them the patterns hiding inside theirs.

For me, this is about faith. Numbers are one of the ways God speaks, and reading a name is really about seeing the gifts He has already placed in it.

01 / How it works

Nine numbers, one name

I use the Pythagorean system. Every letter maps to a number from 1 to 9, running through the alphabet in order and starting again after every ninth letter.

1A J S
2B K T
3C L U
4D M V
5E N W
6F O X
7G P Y
8H Q Z
9I R

Then I count how often each number appears across the full name. Every appearance is a circle of energy. The number with the most circles is the key driver, and everything flows from it. Even counts are balanced, odd counts are proactive, and any missing number is a clean slate, open to growth. When all nine are present, the name is an old soul.

Each number has its own job: 1 is the founder or leader, 2 the team, 3 money-making, 4 systems, 5 operations, 6 reflection, 7 finishing the job and faith (inviting God to play), 8 wealth and 9 giving.

02 / Example readings

A few names, read

These are examples only, to show what a reading looks like. Each number sits in its place on the chart, with one ring for every time it appears. The highlighted number is the one that leads.

1(4)2(3)3(6)4(4)5(7)6(4)7(2)8(2)9(5)Gaps (missing numbers): none
Example 1 · Company name

Current South Africa Development Holdings

37 letters · one ring for each time a number appears

Old soul

An old soul. All nine numbers are present, so it makes money, it's structured and it grows wealthy, though with nothing new to learn it can turn dull over time. The 5 is the key driver with seven circles, so operations run everything, built on balanced systems in the 4. A balanced 3 keeps the money steady, an unbalanced 2 points to a team and brand that keep changing, and the 7 is the antidote to dullness, finishing every job and inviting God to play to keep the work fresh.

1(1)2(1)3(1)4(0)5(3)6(1)7(1)8(0)9(0)Gaps (missing numbers): 4, 8, 9
Example 2 · Place name

Cape Town

8 letters · one ring for each time a number appears

The 5 is the key driver with three circles, so this is a name about operations and getting things done, and an odd count makes it proactive. Single circles on 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 mean leadership, team, money-making, reflection and finishing the job are all there but still finding their balance. The 4, 8 and 9 are clean slates, so systems, wealth and giving are open ground with room to build something new.

1(3)2(0)3(0)4(1)5(0)6(0)7(0)8(0)9(1)Gaps (missing numbers): 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8
Example 3 · Sample first name

Amara

5 letters · one ring for each time a number appears

Short names show only a few numbers, and that is normal. Here the 1 is the key driver with three circles, so this is a founder's name, a natural leader, and proactive with it. A single 4 brings a first sense of systems and a single 9 a giving heart. Every other number is a clean slate, open to growth rather than missing, which leaves plenty of room to learn.

A full reading goes much deeper than this, and it's a conversation, not a verdict. Numerology is for reflection and fun, not a substitute for professional advice.

I also read tarot, as a quiet way to reflect and seek guidance. If you'd like a few cards pulled alongside your name, just say so when you book.

04 / Questions

Good to know

Is it really free?

Yes. It's 15 minutes, there's no payment and no catch. I do it because I enjoy it.

Isn't numerology against faith?

I understand why people ask. For me it's the opposite. It's rooted in my faith and it's one of the ways I connect with God. It isn't fortune telling and there's nothing dark about it. It's a space for reflection, and it's never a substitute for professional advice.

What do I need to send?

Just the name or names you want read. For a person, the full birth name works best, plus the name you use every day if it's different. For a business, the registered name and the trading name if they differ.

How long does it take?

The reading itself is 15 minutes on a call. I'll usually reply within a few days to find a time that suits you.
